Excessive suds detected — too much detergent foam

The Sud error on the Samsung WF45T6000AW indicates excessive suds detected — too much detergent foam. This typically occurs due to too much detergent used for the load size. Most homeowners fix this in 15–30 min by following the steps below.

Quick Fix
Wait 10–15 minutes for the washer to try dissolving the suds on its own

Common Causes of Sud

  • 1Too much detergent used for the load size
  • 2Non-HE (high efficiency) detergent used in an HE washer
  • 3Detergent buildup in the dispenser drawer
  • 4Clogged drain pump filter trapping soap residue

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about Samsung Sud error

HE stands for High Efficiency. It is formulated to produce very little foam, which matters because front-load washers like your Samsung use much less water than older top-loaders. Regular detergent creates a mountain of suds that the machine simply cannot rinse away — triggering the Sud error and potentially leaving soap residue on your clothes.

For most normal loads, about 2 tablespoons (the lowest mark on most HE detergent caps). If you have soft water, use even less — roughly 1 tablespoon. More detergent does not mean cleaner clothes. In fact, overdosing leaves a residue film on fabric and inside the drum that causes odor over time. Use the manufacturer's lowest recommended dose and increase only for heavily soiled loads.
